A visuomotor exercise paradigm designed to simultaneously recruit networks involved in cognition and motor action.
Developed by Dr Lauren Sergio of York University, the York University ABI Study offers cognitive rehabilitation through a tablet-based video game format. By requiring the user to engage in goal directed hand movements, visual, motor and processing areas are stimulated and eventually optimally synchronized. Various gaming strategies are continually applied to challenge the brain in different ways.
In conjunction with Sensory Informed Movement, this brain-training software is an invaluable component to the York University ABI Study, an affordable cognitive rehabilitation option open to the general public.
